Prof. Jiřičná to Receive Honorary Degree

For the second time in the history of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, the honorary degree of doctor honoris causa will be awarded. The degree will be conferred upon Prof. Eva Jiřičná, a world-renowned architect and a native of Zlín, and that at an extrordinary session of the TBU Scientific Board, to be held in the University Centre at 13:00 on 18 May 2011.

“Professor Jiřičná will receive the honorary doctorate in recognition of her excellent presentation of TBU in the Czech Republic and abroad and for contributing to the reputation of the University and of the town of Zlín by designing the buildings of the Congress and University Centre, which are exceptional as regards their architecture,” said Prof. Petr Sáha, TBU Rector.

The first person to receive the TBU honorary doctorate was Mr. José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, who was awarded the degree in Zlín on 22 April 2009.
