Fight for the Crown of the Best Higher Education Student Has StartedThe first semi-final of MISS ACADEMIA ČR 2009 took place on Friday 16 January 2009 in Hilton hotel in Prague. A total of 47 students of mostly Bohemian higher education institutions and tertiary technical schools took part in the semi-final.
“Girls had to undergo a knowledge and IQ test that made up 60% of their total score. An interview with the contest jury during which they were wearing a black dress, and a swimsuit walk followed,” said Sandra Čermáková, one of the project managers. The girls were judged by a jury made up of doc. RNDr. Vojtěch Křesálek, CSc. - jury chairperson and deputy president of the contest, senior consultant Bc. Jan Mizera, Sandra Čermáková, photographer Milan Šára, fashion designer Hana Havelková, Josef Kocourek – deputy head teacher of the project, and the holder of the titles of 2nd RUNNER-UP at MISS ACADEMIA ČR 2008 and MISS ACADEMIA ČR 2008 ON-LINE, Martina Jiříčková. “It was very interesting to see the contest also from the perspective of the jury; it has been a huge experience for me,” Jiříčková said.
The following girls made it through to the top ten: Barbora Vlková and Alena Vejnarová, students of the University of Economics Prague, Tereza Kučerová from the Czech University of Agriculture Prague, Olga Píšová from the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, Olga Novotná, student of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Soňa Dedíková from Sting Academy, Monika Miksová from the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem, Alena Zdvihalová, student of the Institute of Finance and Administration, Lenka Štěpánková from the Czech Technical University in Prague, and Jana Marečková, student of Charles University.
On Friday 23 January the second semi-final will be held on the premises of the University Centre in Zlín where another ten semi-finalists will be selected. The top ten finalists will be selected on the basis of the number of points gained. “Prospective attendees at the final round will again have a chance of winning a lot of prizes and can look forward to an attractive programme,” added Čermáková.
