MISS ACADEMIA ČR 2008 Beauty Contest

The record-breaking numbers of female students registered for this year’s edition of the beauty contest MISS ACADEMIA ČR 2008 have already exceeded the last year’s final number (190 students). Since the registration deadline is 31 January 2008, it is very probable that the number of registered students will be over 200.

This year’s campaign has been organized extremely carefully. A spot has been made by the organizers for the first time in the history of MISS ACADEMIA ČR in order to promote the contest not only on the Internet. “The standards and the prestige of the contest are constantly raising. This trend is directly reflected in the number of female students interested in participating in the beauty contest. We are pleased to see that students are willing to prove that beauty and intelligence go hand in hand.” said one of the project managers, Ms Zuzana Belková.

There will be two semi-final rounds, during which 10 finalists of this year’s edition of MISS ACADEMIA ČR will be selected. The first semi-final round will take place on 8 February 2008 in the hotel Hilton in Prague and the second round on 16 February 2008 in the hotel Moskva in Zlín. The finals will be held in the Municipal Theatre in Zlín on 30 April 2008.

The main prize which will be awarded to the winner of the contest is a six-month-hire of the Škoda Superb car provided by the general partner of the contest - Škoda Auto Company.

MISS ACADEMIA ČR is a contest aimed at female students of any higher education institution or tertiary technical school in the Czech Republic. The competition intends to dispel the popular myth about beautiful girls not being both good-looking and intelligent.

The origins of MISS ACADEMIA ČR date back to the year 1997 when the most likeable and charming student was elected at the Gala Ball of the Faculty of Technology. Since that year the beauty contest has undergone continuing development up to its today’s shape thanks to the students of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications.
