‘Paraparáda’ Sporting Event

Students of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at Tomas Bata University invite you to the traditional pre-Christmas sporting event called ‘Paraparáda’ that will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday 6 December 2007. But this won’t be just an ordinary sporting event! The sports hall of the Secondary Technical School in Zlín will be transformed into an ocean full of pirates since the topic of ‘Pirates’ accompanies this year’s Paraparáda. The fifth edition of the sporting event featuring ‘handicapped’ and ‘healthy’ participants taking part in tricky pirate disciplines is expected to erase all differences. The manageress of the project, Ms Sylva Štalmachová, revealed some details of the programme: “We will find out whether a wheelchair user will be faster on the sea than a Zlín club ice hockey player. We shall test whether policemen will be able to cope with firearms, and whether our competitors will be familiar with fishing. And that’s not all! Besides a number of remarkable sporting performances, you can enjoy the performance of the beautiful and charming oriental dancers from the dance school Delila Zlín or brave fencers.”
The participants will compete in four-member teams made up of e.g. ice hockey players of HC RI Okna Zlín, policemen, firemen, representatives of the town and region and, above all, several non-profit organizations in Zlín, such as TyfloCentrum Zlín, the protected workshop ERGO Zlín, town short-stay hospital Klubíčko Zlín, humanitarian association Handicap Zlín and daily centre for mentally disabled persons Horizont.
Paraparáda is a totally unique project. Not only has it been completely organized by the students of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications, but it primarily connects two entirely different worlds, that have nevertheless much in common. There are no losers, since the main aim of the competition is to enjoy oneself and at the same time ‘break down’ the imaginary barriers. Therefore, you are cordially invited to come and support your favourite team!
