Students Evaluated Quality in Higher Education

The 7th annual nationwide student conference entitled ‘The Current Role and Status of Students at Higher Education Institutions’ was held from 29 to 30 November 2007.

A record number of 167 participants (among them students, teachers and university managements from 23 Czech higher education institutions, but also representatives of the Students’ Chamber of the Council of Universities, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic and the Centre for Higher Education Studies) attended the conference that was organized by the Academic Centre for Student Activities (ACSA) under the auspices of Brno University of Technology.

The topic of the conference was ‘student evaluation of educational quality’ (SEEQ) and its main aim was to enable the participants to voice their opinions and exchange experience in order to allow sufficient space for the quality of higher education to be improved. The conference was targeted particularly at those who deal with SEEQ (i.e. collecting and using student feedback on quality and standards of learning and teaching in higher education) or are interested in the subject, such as members of academic senates, teachers and specialists that prepare SEEQ, managements of the higher education institutions that assess SEEQ and draw conclusions from it.

The student conference was held under the patronage of the Rector of Brno University of Technology, Prof. Karel Rais.
