Prix Danube Festival
On 19 - 25 September 2007, Bratislava, Slovakia hosted the "Prix Danube Festival", the 19th biennial film and television festival for children and the youth, which introduced 87 broadcasters and producers from 39 countries. The main competition was entered by 104 children's films, particularly from traditionally powerful Scandinavian countries, Great Britain and France, but also from Korea, Japan and Brazil. The competition comprised several categories: feature, animation, educational programmes and documentaries. Within each category, one prize and two certificates of merit were awarded by three juries (adult jury, children's jury and youth jury).
The Czech Republic was represented by 3 projects: two represented the Czech Television, one represented TBU in Zlín. The latter was called "Pohádka aneb Na pytel se sahat nebude" (screenplay by Jan Bártek, directed by Jan Bártek and Jan Otruba, camera by Libor Čevelík) and it was the only student film in the competition. All others were professional television and film productions from all over the world.
"Pohádka..." was awarded a certificate of merit for a feature screenplay. Besides "its humour, nice screenplay and excellent adaptation", the jury also appreciated the very low cost and high quality of this film.
On 25 September 2007, the prizes were awarded at a special ceremony held at the Museum of Modern Art in Bratislava, Slovakia in the presence of a French diplomat, Italian and Japanese attachés, and other distinguished guests.
