University rector's election

The TBU Academic Senate has not selected any of the candidates to be appointed as the TBU new rector. Two candidates had been nominated for the post: Prof. Ing. Ignác Hoza, CSc, currently the Dean at the TBU Faculty of Technology, and Prof. Ing. Jiří Polách, CSc., Head of the Department of Enterprise Economics at the TBU Faculty of Management and Economics.
To be appointed as the new rector, one of the candidates had to receive the votes cast by the absolute majority of the TBU Academic Senate members – i.e. at least 16 votes from among 30 Academic Senate members.
In the first round Prof. Hoza and Prof. Polách obtained 15 and 12 votes respectively, 3 votes were invalid. In the repeated election both candidates received 15 votes each.
The TBU Academic Senate shall call a new election.
