"Spirit of Mozart" - exhibition representing TBU abroadStudents at the TBU Faculty of Multimedia Communications (specialized in Fashion design) have achieved international success thanks to a fashion collection inspired by the work of W. A. Mozart. In cooperation with a studio within the Department of Textiles at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava the students have created a fashion collection inspired by the 250th birth anniversary of W. A. Mozart. Currently the model dresses have been arranged to form a touring exhibition entitled “Spirit of Mozart”, launched by an opening ceremony on 02/10/2006 in the Bertramka Villa in Prague (Mozart’s favourite location), and planned to travel abroad: On 13/10 selected model dresses were presented at a fashion show in Paris, in November the collection will arrive in Saint Etienne (France), and will be shown in Vienna in December. The work on the fashion collection involves cooperation with the French company “Recycle” – because the original intention consisted in making full use of recycled clothing from the point of view of visual arts. In spring a shared workshop on the “Mozart “ topic was held in the Slovakian town of Kremnica, where the students of both studios were working together under the leadership of Ms. Šárka Šišková, M.F.A. and Ms. Julie Sabová, Assoc. Prof. and M.B.A. The students were drawing, painting and dedicating themselves to creative activities when listening to music composed by Mozart.
The completed model dresses include a series of various approaches and creative initiatives. Not all students have strictly stuck to a mere treatment of recycled clothing. Mozart’s music inspired them to create designers originals.
University teachers participated in the exhibition as well. The head of the Fashion Design Studio at TBU, Ms. Šárka Šišková, M.F.A., was showing 4 model dresses and photos inspired by Mozart. Nevertheless she did not use recycled textile but on the contrary luxurious French material - silk. Ms. Sabová, Assoc. Prof. (head of the studio within the Department of Textiles at Academy of Fine Arts and Design) was displaying a collection of hats.
